After-school Program 

The Vietnamese Dual Language Program considers raising a child to be a community effort and emphasize learning beyond school hours. After-school mentoring and tutoring is offered to all students through the Asian-American Students In America (A.S.I.A.) Foundation and the collaboration with the Vietnamese Students Association (VSA) at the University of Texas. The Vietnamese Dual Language Program staff, A.S.I.A. Foundation and VSA volunteers work together to help guide our students in both academics and social development. 

The Vietnamese Afterschool Program at Summitt Elementary will service students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Our mission is to provide academic support from 3pm-4:00pm and a cultural enrichment program from 4:00pm-6:00pm to all students from Monday to Friday. The program will follow Austin ISD's school schedule. Each child will be placed in a classroom suitable to his/her level of development. Children will receive academic assistance with homework, projects, and other school-related assignments.

Objectives/Goals

  • To empower our students with the skills to become confident, effective and independent learners.

  • To provide academic support and homework assistance to each child.

  • To create a warm and friendly environment where children feel comfortable, safe and secure.

  • To promote healthy socialization skills in a group atmosphere.

  • To establish and maintain a good rapport between parent and staff.

  • To support families in their efforts to communicate needs from home to school and vice versa.

Enrollment

The Vietnamese Afterschool program is designed to meet the needs of Summitt students who need extra support. Enrollment is based on academic needs and availability. If space is not available, your child will be placed on a waiting list and a parent/guardian will be notified of any openings. To be considered for placement, please fill out the registration forms. We reserve the right to refuse any enrollments.

$150- 3:00-4:00PM

$175- 3:00-5:00PM

$200- 4:00-6:00PM
